Reporting conventions.

  • Reports in English and Urdu
  • Amounts in PKR

Regulators issue instruments and expect reports in English, with Gregorian dates and Latin numerals. The one bilingual rule found: SBP's Shariah Governance Framework requires the annual Shariah Board report to be published in the annual report in English with an Urdu translation (section 3E). SBP circulars are cited as '<Department> Circular No. NN of YYYY' or 'Circular Letter No. NN of YYYY' (for example BPRD, IFPD, OSED, BSD-1, CRMD, ACFID, PSP&OD); SECP instruments are cited by S.R.O. number. Amounts are in PKR (often written Rs.). Banks and DFIs report on a calendar year; many companies and SOEs use a 1 July to 30 June financial year, so calendar anchors must be set per client.
